• Helping children put the pieces together

Jigsaw4u International South Africa appeal

  • Overview

Two years ago, Anne Davies was invited to South Africa to provide a lecture tour on the lessons learned in the UK, exploring ways for providing dedicated services within reach of local communities.

Although estimates vary, Children Count believes that as of 2005 there were as many as 3.4 million children in South Africa who had lost either one or both of their parents - 18.6% of all children in the country. In some of the areas that were visited, it was as high as 50%.

We now want to work with two rural areas and one fishing town close to Cape Town to develop a tree clinic that will meet once a week and provide health, financial, social and emotional support to bereaved children and young people - and you can help us.

  • Our target

Together, we aim to raise £30,000.

Out of this we need £1,000 to register the charity in South Africa (court costs only - lawyers are giving their work for free), £100 to support a child for a year, and £10,000 to sponsor a support worker for a year.

  • Help make a difference

There are lots of ways you can help. But the most effective way remains through financial contributions. No matter how small, every donation helps make possible the work that we do, and remains the easiest way to give.
