The organisation was registered as an unincorporated charity on 26.4.97 with a declaration of trust outlining the administration, objects and powers of the charity. The objects were modified by deeds of amendment dated 17.6.97 and 15.10.04. The bank clause was modified by a deed of amendment dated 29.4.99. The objects were further modified by deed of amendment on 14.4.05 and a Special Resolution passed to allow the charity to transfer all the assets and liabilities to the charitable company Jigsaw4u Ltd and apply to the Charity Commission for Moving Forward Together to be dissolved and struck off their register of charities. Official charitable status was accorded to the Jigsaw4u Ltd company on 20.4.05 at which date the net assets of the charity were transferred to it.

Method of appointment of trustees
Trustees are appointed by election at the AGM but may be co-opted to the committee at any stage of the year by agreement of a core group of trustees. Trustees are selected on the basis of the skills requited by the team of trustees. Trustees meet on a six weekly basis with additional study days as required.

To relieve those children and adults who have suffered sexual, physical mental and emotional distress by the provision of care, guidance, advice, advocacy and counselling as well as the provision of advice and support for those responsible for the care of such persons

To relieve the needs of socially or economically disadvantaged young persons and/or those who are excluded, or in danger of being excluded, from school in particular by the provision of care, support and advocacy
