Official launch of Jigsaw4u International

Published on January 01, 2008

On 21st November Jigsaw4u joined with other partner charities to celebrate 10 years of Jigsaw4u and the launch of Jigsaw4u International. The day included the inaugural strategy meeting of key national and international organisations to explore ways to work together to raise the profile of the needs of children and young people who have experienced loss and trauma.

This was followed by a reception and concert to celebrate the partnership and to raise the profile of loss and trauma and organisations working together as well as announcing an active working partnership between Jigsaw4u and the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund (UK). Guest Speakers Janet Kotze, First Secretary, South African High Commission and Kathi Scott, Executive Director of the Nelson Mandela Childrens Fund (UK) talked about the work being done and the great amount still to do in South Africa and emphasised how valuable a contribution Jigsaw4u could make in the future in partnership with the NMCF (UK).

Bill Hampson, Chief Executive of the Epiphany Trust talked about the combined work between this organisation and Jigsaw4u in Sri Lanka that has been the launchpad for Jigsaw International to be created. Then Jim Harding, ex-CEO of the NSPCC talked movingly about the huge importance of working with the kind of young people that jigsaw4u do and in particular, the fact that unlike most organisations, 'child centred' is a reality with Jigsaw4u, not just a media-friendly term! Finally Anne Davies, CEO of Jigsaw4u talked about the experiences and motivations that lead to Jigsaw4u existing in the first place as well as investing great confidence in what the future will hold for the charity.
