Starbucks partners up with Jigsaw4u

Published on May 16, 2008

On Friday 16th May Starbucks stores throughout Surrey supported the aims of Jigsaw4u by hosting a number of in-store events. Stores in Guildford, Woking, Farnham and Wisley collectively raised awareness of the charity and the incidence of children and young people who are bereaved daily. Store managers and staff worked tirelessly from 9.00am until store closing to promote the need for bereaved children to have access to support, when they need it.

Events varied from store-to-store but included raffle prizes, coffee-tastings, quiz sheets and displays. Through their relationship with their customers, Jigsaw4u connected with a much wider audience than would otherwise have been possible, in such a short space of time.

The stores also supported the aims of YES! - Youth Expedition Sinai, which was set-up to offer support and help to bereaved children. A number of young people, who are bereaved and have been on the Jigsaw4u support programme, were chosen to go on the expedition.

The young people worked with all the stores during the day to connect with the public and ensure the key messages were delivered. But fun was also had by all. Starbucks(UK) HO granted Jigsaw4u the opportunity for an in-store publicity event to be held at their Wisley store in the evening, which was attended by the MD of Starbucks for UK and Ireland, Phil Broad. He later commented that the event was the 'best community event he had attended and would do everything he could to support Jigsaw in the future.' He also sponsored a young person, who had been through the Jigsaw4u support programme, to go on YES!

As a result of the connection made between Jigsaw4u and Starbucks HO, Jigsaw4u has been chosen as the designated charity for all Starbucks stores in the SE region and a number of stores within Central London. More fundraising and publicity events are planned over the next six months. So.watch this space for updates!
