A Christmas Message from Anne Davies

2009 is going to present all of us with renewed challenges. The impact of the current economic situation and grim forecasts for next year, are going to be severe and widespread. House re-possessions, job losses and loss of income always leads to a marked increase in the number of children suffering from abuse, neglect and loss.
When I look at Jigsaw4u and my determination for it to grow so that it can meet these new challenges, not a day goes by without me wondering how we are going to make ends meet financially. Like any small charity that is attempting to grow, the tension between balancing our operational budgets and the need to expand our marketing and fund raising efforts, is always our greatest challenge.
Then, early last week I witnessed the raw pain experienced by a young man at the loss of his whole family. I saw his lack of hope that anyone would ever listen to him, or take time with him, or teach him skills or nurture him with consistent love and in that moment and the many similar moments that I experience, I knew why Jigsaw4u exists.
I know why I can’t stop battling for people to LISTEN to the most vulnerable children and young people in our communities.
Together we need to take the message, the skills and the lessons learned to a wider community, so that hopeless young people in the UK and around the world can find a listening ear. So that their voices can become strong and effective rather than loud and destructive, where instead of the knife they find and use strategies and skills that will help them build a future for themselves and the young people that in turn they will help.
Please help us to make a difference, to help young people put the pieces of their broken lives together and give them hope and a future.
