Training & ConsultancyJigsaw4u

Jigsaw4u Training and Consultancy exists to equip professionals and volunteers with the skills necessary to support children and young people through loss and trauma by working directly with them and empowering them to participate in decision-making about their own lives. It is also involved in the development of policy and practice locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

The definition of loss and trauma in this context includes the effects on children and young people of a bereavement, family breakdown through separation, divorce, or being looked after, being adopted, or having a sibling that is adopted or looked after. But this definition also includes the effects of disability, or being looked after by parents with mental health problems, disability or terminal illness. Finally, the effects of domestic violence, divorce, separation due to illness or imprisonment and bullying.

With the development of school clusters, children's centres, extended schools and clustered GP commissioning groups, we believe that this is a good time to inform you of the nationally recognised services available locally at Jigsaw4u.

Jigsaw4u provides a unique child-centred approach that enables children and young people to deal with situations of loss and trauma and promotes their active participation in decision-making.

We have been working for ten years in a range of schools and GP practices providing home-school support. We have also been providing grief support and training across Surrey, Kent, Sussex and several London boroughs. We provide advocacy and independent advisory services for looked after children and young people and a befriending service and participation project for children and young people with disability.

Jigsaw4u Training and Consultancy provides tailor made training for schools, mental health services, health centres, social services teams, mentoring for individual staff and regional workshops and conferences staff.
